The family behind The Cottage Restaurant
The Cottage Restaurant is locally owned and family-run. Steve and Nellie Cardinalli, along with Steve's mother Kathleen, bought what was then Katy's Cottage in 1994, and re-christened it The Cottage Restaurant. With four young children of their own, Steve and Nellie appreciate what it's like to eat out as a family. Want a little privacy? The restaurant's big booth will accomodate large parties, and your family is always welcome. And bring the grandparents too!
Long-time residents of the area, with roots on the Monterey Peninsula going back several generations, Steve, Nellie, and Kathleen have preserved and enhanced the restaurant's cozy tables and decor. Owners of the former Left Bank Cafe in the Carmel Plaza, they brought their specialty crepes to The Cottage Restaurant and added a few new American favorites.
Kathleen is happy to report that "We still see some of the same faces. We had two couples in the other day who asked me if I remembered them from our other place 15 years ago, when they were just kids!"
